Dulux Bedroom in a Box

Last February, when I first fell pregnant with Baby Girl we had a big move around at our place. It wasn’t really big enough for the four of us and so we had the garage converted into a dinning room, we moved our bedroom into the old dining room and The Toddler moved into our old room. It was a big room. A nice room. A bit magnolia, maybe, but it would be fine for The Toddler as we would decorate it for him.

One year on….. it still isn’t finished.

We wanted to do a big mural for him, paint all sorts of things. The husband is a bit handy with a paintbrush, but we quickly realised that it needed a whole lot of different paint brushes and a whole lot of time that with pregnancy and a new baby we simply didn’t have. So you’ll understand why I was quite interested when I hard about the Dulux Bedroom in a Box kit!

jungle adventure duluxThere are two different Dulux Bedroom in a Box kits currently available, the Jungle Adventure Bedroom in a Box and the Fairy Princess Bedroom in a Box both of which are priced at £70. Dulux will also be introducing Sea Adventure, Peppa Pig, Avengers and Wall Art themes shortly.

I loved that all the different paints, the mural and wallpaper paste  you needed to get the job finished are supplied so you can get the job done quickly, unlike with us currently and the half finished pirate ship we’ve had there for six months! I also loved the idea of having such a big mural on the wall, it really makes a room look special without you having to worry too much about putting a theme together and buying lots of lots from different shops (yeah, I’ve had hassle with that too…)

The kits both come with matching paints for walls and sideboards. In some ways this shouldn’t seem like a big issue but I’ve had ‘polite discussions’ with The Husband before over paint colour choices so actually it’s nice to have someone else think about it for you!

kit for decorating kids bedroomsAs a family we all think this a great idea that allows you to get a room looking really cool without spending too much time procrastinating over it, very important with young kids! Jungle or princesses, Avengers or Sea Adventure? Which do you think your children would like?

I think the concept is excellent and I can’t wait to see what new themes are introduced. We’ve just moved and decorated all the rooms magnolia so that we could quickly move in. We’ll hopefully make each room more exciting next year and when I saw the princess bedroom in a box on another post I got really excited because I know the girls will love it!

We have just decorated Mr Z’s room with the Jungle kit. It looks so cool, and was so easy to do. He has had a lot of compliments on his new room from anyone who has been round since, it really gives a striking effect with the wall mural 🙂 I will be tempted to get another kit when the new designs come out, and do the other kids rooms too

This sounds an excellent idea! Only thing I did wonder was whether there is sufficient pain in there? It would have to be a pretty small room for one tin to be sufficient for the walls? Can’t wait to see what yours turns out like!

it seems like a lovely idea, but a bit too expensive for me, i like to shop around and pick bits and bobs which i know i will be cheaper but its great to have a kit like this

What a brilliant idea, only wish they had done this years ago. I have changed my kids room colour more times than I care to admit. x

  6. 20th March 2014 / 12:29 pm

What a fab idea! Especially for children’s rooms! Can’t wait to see how it turns out for you 🙂

I agree with having the colour chosen for you! Do post about it when you’re done with the room.

  8. 20th March 2014 / 1:09 pm

Ohhh that’s handy not seen it all in a box like that .x

What a GREAT idea a Bedroom in A Box is. I am not great at color coordinating so this is perfect for those like me who have that problem. Can’t wait to see your room when you finish.

I think choosing the colours is partly what puts me off even starting anything – it takes so long! My only gripe with this would be that every little boy and girl in town would have the same bedroom!

These look great, I haven’t seen them before! When we decorate the twins room it might be worth looking at them x

  12. 20th March 2014 / 4:49 pm

these are great for kiddos aren’t they?! Baya loved the princess mural so much!

  13. 20th March 2014 / 5:39 pm

I can see the advantage in this, but my boys never want the standard stuff!

  14. 20th March 2014 / 7:24 pm

    looks like a great idea.
I hope we will be able to see it once it is done

  15. 20th March 2014 / 8:06 pm

I really like the idea of having everything you need in one box. We have wall stickers for both of my children at the moment but when we move I will certainly be looking for inspiration!

We’re very limited as we rent but I would LOVE to be able to decorate our rooms a bit more like this. O has a woodland themed bedroom and my mum made watercolour paintings for each letter of the alphabet which run around his room. So if we ever had the opportunity to paint I’d like to do a woodland theme, although I suspect my husband would want to do an outer space theme instead!

Great idea for it all to come in one box, a lot less hassle. Baby is too young to have preferences although the only thing she loves at the moment is pictures of herself! x

What a brilliant idea! We need to jazz up Austin’s bedroom a bit – it’s a slightly boring blue. I bet he’d love the jungle adventure theme….

  19. 20th March 2014 / 10:26 pm

What a great idea! I do love new products. I think we would go for Sea Adventures as my son is all sea creature mad. The Jungle Adventure looks very good, such a vibrant picture.

  20. 20th March 2014 / 10:36 pm

I love this idea as I am useless as putting a colour scheme together so we always end up with white walls as I am terrified of getting it ‘wrong’. Young families have no time to faff about so getting everything you need in one purchase would definitely catch my attention.

What a great idea – I really need to get some decorating done this year as sadly what we thought was a good paint job (by professionals) was anything but *sighs* x

  22. 21st March 2014 / 7:00 am

Love this concept. We are just decorating our bedroom and wish I had seen this

  23. 22nd March 2014 / 4:35 pm

it’s a great idea to have everything you need in one box isn’t it! x

  24. 22nd March 2014 / 6:02 pm

I love the fact the co-ordinations colours are chosen for you, too many mistakes in the past!!

  25. 23rd March 2014 / 11:34 am

What a fab idea! I’ll definitely be looking into this one for our girls, so clever. Do share pics when it’s done, I’d love to see it.

I think it’s a fab idea, my boys would absolutely love the sea adventure one!
